Full Job Description

The Department of Histopathology is looking for a locum Consultant to join their team for a period of 12 months. The role is for 10 Programmed Activities (PA's) and we welcome applications from a Locum Consultant Histopathologist with expertise in Lymphoma (solid tissue only), gynaecological pathology along with skin and GI (desirable -familiarity with pseudomyxoma peritonei) pathology. The successful candidate will also contribute to specimen dissection.The medical establishment is made up of 10 consultant Histopathologists, with junior support from the deanery rotation and an international clinical fellowship post.The appointee will be based at The Christie and together with colleagues already in post and will provide input to lymphoma, gynaecological and gastro-intestinal histopathology team to meet the needs of the service. The successful applicant will share the diagnostic workload with the other consultant histopathologists and give input into the relevant multidisciplinary team
meetings (MDTs)., The Department of Histopathology/ GM-HCDP service (Lymphoma) provides diagnostic tumour pathology services to the Christie NHS Foundation Trust for biopsies and surgical specimens from the theatres, wards and out-patients in the hospital and pathological material for review from other hospitals in the North West for cancer patients referred to the clinical, surgical and medical oncologists.Consultation is also provided on problematic cases, referred by other histopathologists within, and occasionally outside, the region. There is no on-call rota or requirement for weekend work.
