Full Job Description

Applications are invited for a Locum Consultant in Acute Gastroenterology and General Medicine to join our Gastroenterology team at Bedford Hospital, part of Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust. The contract will be fixed term for 12 months, providing maternity cover.

We will actively support a new colleague that will complement and enhance our existing team., This post holder:

  • Provide a consultant based service to the patients attending the gastro ward with most duties being "ward round and/or shop floor based" to ensure early consultant review and decision making.

  • Participate in Gastroenterology ward rounds and daily week day ward MDT meetings, working closely with the gastroenterology consultant of the week who will provide direct input where required and emergency endoscopy during working hours.

  • Supervise Junior medical staff, including clinical and educational supervision if appropriate expertise.

  • Provide outpatient clinics as agreed.
