Full Job Description

The post holders will be on a 10 Programmed activity (PA) contract, which will be split between 9 PAs of direct clinical care (DCC) and 1 PA of supporting professional activities (SPA). The DCC lists will be worked flexibly according to departmental requirements and may include either evening lists which run until 19.30 or weekend lists (maximum 0.5PA). If this is the case, these sessions will be timetabled in the job plan and subject to the usual annual review. The department utilises the CLW Rota system and this allows annualisation of elements of the job plan. This may be offered to the successful candidate, subject to mutual agreement.

In addition to the clinical responsibilities of the post the department is looking for a candidate who will bring to the department established skills, knowledge and techniques. This may include patient safety, quality improvement, management or research. Possession of proven capabilities in the candidate's chosen area of expertise together with higher training and/or specialty accreditation would be advantageous

The post-holder will comply with the recommendations of the Royal College of Anaesthetists with respect to continuing medical education and professional development. The post-holder will promote and comply with the recommendations contained in "Good Practice; a guide for Departments of Anaesthesia" published by the Royal College of Anaesthetists and the Association of Anaesthetists.
