Full Job Description

This is a fixed term 8 PA post for 1 year for a Consultant in Genitourinary Medicine (GUM) to cover a consultant on sabbatical from the end of January 2025. The postholder will work collaboratively with the integrated sexual and reproductive health team high quality specialist (level 3) sexual health service and support and training for staff within the department and the organisation as well as with training of the GUM specialty trainees.

We have strong links with Lambeth and North Southwark primary care for whom we are the lead providers. The department works in close collaboration with women's health services, Urology, Dermatology, infection services, emergency department and inpatient services.

The service is going through an organisational restructure to increase accessibility for LARC, HIV PrEP, STI prevention and care., This is a part-time (8 programmed activities/0.8 Whole time equivalent) 1-year fixed term locum post for a Consultant in Sexual Health & HIV (Genitourinary Medicine) to provide complex sexual health care, leadership within the sexual and reproductive health department, training, as well as general clinical and managerial responsibilities in the department.

The post holder will contribute to clinical, teaching, audit and research support for the department and management support for the medical staff and the department in general. The service currently operates a senior doctor model where the named senior doctor provides oversight and support for the service as well as managing referrals and hospital/primary care queries.

The post holder will provide leadership for the PrEP service and the GUM Urology MDT.

They will provide a GUM Consultant referral clinic, a Genital dermatology clinic and a HIV outpatient clinic every week., Ourstrategyto 2030 is to deliver 'better, faster, fairer healthcare for all'. The Sexual and Reproductive Health department at Guy's and St Thomas' (GSTT) incorporates three integrated clinics. We provide a full range of sexual and reproductive health services based at Burrell Street, Walworth Road, and Minnie Kidd House, covering a diverse client group across Southwark and Lambeth. We run a walk-in service across five days at Walworth Road and Minnie Kidd House, and a seven-day service at our Burrell Street location.
