Full Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Paediatric Dentistry team in BCHC as a locum consultant. The post is to cover short term leave in the team and will support service delivery. The job will mainly be based at Birmingham Dental Hospital, Dental Outreach Clinics and Community Dental Service across Birmingham and Black Country.

Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust (BCHC) has more than 5000 staff working across Birmingham and the West Midlands in a wide range of community nursing and specialist healthcare roles. BCHC delivers over 100 clinical services, in people's homes, health centres, clinics and inpatient facilities. We deliver a wide range of services for children, young people, parents and families as well as adults and community services, two community hospitals, services for people with learning disabilities, the internationally recognised West Midlands Rehabilitation Centre and one of Europe's leading Dental Hospitals and School of Dentistry. We deliver all of this with a commitment to integrated, personalised care that is rooted in our local communities. We have an ambition to deliver outstanding, integrated care as one of the key NHS providers in the West Midlands.

The priority for this post is the provision of a Paediatric Dentistry Consultant Service for patients referred from hospital colleagues, general medical and dental practitioners and colleagues within BCHC.

The post will promote the provision of a more seamless paediatric dental service across the primary and secondary care boundary.

The post holder will also be required to support development of the community paediatric dental service and colleagues within the department. The post holder will be involved in undergraduate teaching to dentists and therapists and also support the post graduate specialist paediatric training.
