Locum Consultant in Paediatric Neuro-Oncology

This is a new post which will provide additional support to the existing team of 4.9 WTE NHS consultant oncologists, 4 part-time academic colleagues (2 Professorial appointments and 2 Senior Lecturer), 1 part-time honorary NHS consultant and a part-time Specialty Doctor. The existing Oncology teams provides the full range of tertiary oncology services and have sub-specialty interest in neuro-oncology, general solid tumour oncology, TYA oncology, late-effects and retinoblastoma covering an extensive geographical area. The department has a varied research portfolio including a world-leading programme in functional imaging and metabolism for CNS tumours., The post-holder will oversee the day-to-day management of in-patients through participation in the departmental weekly "on-service" and out-of-hours rota along with undertaking regular outpatient clinics and attendance at appropriate MDT's. There will be a liaison role with the well-established Paediatric Oncology Shared Care Units (POSCU's). The successful candidate will be eligible for inclusion on the specialist register for Paediatric Oncology or be within 6 months of completion of higher specialist training or equivalent.
