Full Job Description
The main duties of the post will include:
- Keep patients (and/or their carers if appropriate) informed about their condition.
- Involve patients (and/or carers if appropriate) in decision making about their treatment
- Maintain professional standards and obligations as set out from time to time by the General Medical Council (GMC) and comply in particular with the GMCs guidance on Good Medical Practice as amended or substituted from time to time. Option for Urgent and Emergency Care duties including out-of-hours on-call; schedules will take due account of the provisions of working time regulations and safe working Supporting Professional Activities in accordance with the Trust Framework, with at least a minimum of 1.5 SPAs included in the core 10PA timetable. Additional SPA or DCC time may be commissioned in line with the skills of the successful candidate and changing requirements of the service. Examples may include formal teaching responsibilities or departmental leadership roles Office facilities & secretarial support will be provided to support this
- Daily specialist paediatric fracture clinic with a virtual component.

- Developmental hip dysplasia service;

Mid Yorkshire Orthopaedic services serves a population of over 500,000 in West Yorkshire, England. The department has subspecialties of lower limb arthroplasty surgery, soft tissue knee surgery, foot and ankle surgery, paediatric orthopaedic surgery and upper limb surgery. Mid Yorkshire Hospitals also delivers a 24 hour consultant led trauma service, our multi-professional teams co-ordinate the care for patients with trauma injuries. We are seeking a Locum Consultant Paediatric Orthopaedic Surgeon to join our team of 23 Orthopaedic Consultants providing a range of acute and elective services. This is a new post in paediatric orthopaedics and trauma and is part of a planned expansion of paediatric orthopaedics services. The successful applicant will be involved in delivering an elective paediatric orthopaedic service and trauma provision, with the option to participate in a general orthopaedics on-call rota (1 in 16).
