Full Job Description

This post has been created as a locum position (12 months in the first instance) to cover the Sabbatical period of one of the structural interventional Cardiologists. The post will therefore to support the Structural Interventional Service, and in particular the TAVI service which is currently expanding rapidly to meet huge clinical demand, The post-holder will be a fully trained and independent interventional Cardiologist with expertise in structural intervention, in particular TAVI. The successful candidate will be fully trained in coronary intervention and be an independent, first operator. They would be expected to undertake primary PCI on the current PCI rota, If necessary with mentored on-call commitments for the first 6 months.

The post holder will be expected to have experience in TAVI, and, where necessary, will receive training mentoring/training in order to become and independent first operator. We will also train the successful candidate in mitral/tricuspid edge-to-edge repair techniques as well as other structural interventions, depending on their experience.

This individual will be able to perform outpatient clinics independently, run catheter lab coronary intervention lists, participate in the Consultant-of-the-week and on-call rota and provide support to the service, as required. The successful candidate will support the running of the cardiac catheter lab, inpatient and outpatient activitiy in order to facilitate the workflow. The post will involve close working with the Clinical Nurse Specialists in order to prioritise investigation and treatment of patients..
