South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust are recruiting for a Locum Consultant in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. The post holder will complement and develop existing services through the provision of specialist knowledge & expertise in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery.
This opportunity is to join a dynamic, friendly and supportive team of Consultants in a busy tertiary referral major trauma centre hospital, located at the top of the beautiful North Yorkshire Moors., The post will be based at the James Cook University Hospital, Middlesbrough, providing an exciting opportunity to work within a committed team. Service provision extends to The Friarage Hospital (Northallerton) and opportunities at Darlington Memorial Hospital., It is now the policy of South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust that all successful candidates who are new to the Trust who require DBS clearance for the post they have been offered, are required to pay the cost of their DBS. The method of payment for this is via salary deduction from your first month's pay.

This post is a full-time post to provide cover for a leaving colleague. The successful candidate should have a broad experience in General Maxillofacial Surgery including Head & Neck, Facial Trauma, Orthognathic, TMJ, Skin and Dentoalveolar Surgery.

South Tees is the largest Trust in the Tees Valley with two acute hospitals and services in several community hospitals.
James Cook Hospital is a designated major trauma centre, providing all specialties from one site. It provides a range of general and specialist services such as neurosciences, renal med, spinal injuries, major trauma, cardiothoracics, vascular surgery, cancer services and hosts the regional spinal cord injuries centre. It has 1,024 beds, a 24-hour acute admissions unit and an emergency dept. housing the major trauma centre for Durham, East Cleveland, Tees Valley and North Yorkshire and has its own helipad.
In 2012, the hospital completed a £35 million redevelopment of cancer services and now provides some of the best facilities in Europe. It has a modern operating suite containing 20 well-equipped theatres and a 33-bedded critical care unit. There's also an Institute of Learning, Research and Innovation on site, embracing postgraduate medical education, undergraduate teaching centre, nurse training school, school of radiography and library.
The Friarage Hospital Northallerton is an essential part of the organisation and an important point of delivery for the community. Cancer services at the Friarage are delivered in the purpose-built Sir Robert Ogden Macmillan Centre, providing a range of outpatient and diagnostic services, and will have a new-build 8-theatre complex opening in 2025 to further enhance the hospital's role as an elective surgical hub.
