Full Job Description

The Trust is a forward-thinking hospital and has committed income to the funding of innovative service models across a number of specialities., The outpatient service for this service is a multidisciplinary clinic with input from physiotherapy, podiatry, radiology and Sports and Exercise Medicine Consultants and Registrars. This service has grown over the past 24 months and the work associated with these clinics has led to a greater demand for our services., The post will be based in the department of orthopaedics. There will be an average of 8 PAs of direct clinical care (including out of hours and on call work), and 2 PA's allocated for supporting professional activities (audit, admin, teaching and CPD). There will be an expected level of flexibility to provide some surgical services across the ICS sites including the Barts Health Orthopaedic Centre - Newham. The trust is committed to supporting its doctors towards Continuing Professional Development and the SPA sessions within the job plan reflect this potential. As a senior employee of the Trust you will work in close co-operation with and support other clinical, medical, professional and managerial colleagues in providing high quality, safe health care to patients.

Applications are invited from suitably qualified surgeons for the post of Locum Consultant in Trauma and Orthopaedics. The post will be based primarily at Homerton University Hospital and the post-holder will have the following core responsibilities:

An interest in lower limb trauma and arthroplasty (hip & knee) .This will include management of complex lower limb trauma, peri-prosthetic fractures, hip and knee arthroplasty.

Be part of the trauma on-call consultant rota which includes leading trauma meetings, ward rounds and operating time. Candidates will be expected to have recognised experience and management of subspecialty trauma besides being capable of managing routine trauma.
