Full Job Description

The number of sessions to be devoted to the following activities will be dependent upon the department's need and the post-holder's requirements.

  • Participation in the Trauma On-call service - 1 in 12

  • Operation lists, both Elective and Trauma

  • Regular ward rounds

  • Outpatient clinics, both Elective and Trauma

  • A Specialist interest in Hand and Wrist Surgery

  • Presenting monthly mortality & morbidity statistics and participating in departmental teaching meetings

  • Supervision and training middle grade

  • Be prepared to participate in management duties within the department and the Trust, The basic job plan is for 10 PA's of which 8.5 PAs are clinical & 1.5 PAs are for basic/ core SPA duties.

  • The 8.5 Clinical PAs will consist of (subject to confirmation):
    2 x elective theatre sessions - 2PAs (weekly)
    1 x Elective Orthopaedic clinic 1.5 PA (weekly)
    1 x fracture clinic - 1 PA (weekly)
    2 x Trauma theatre sessions 1 PA (fortnightly)

    We are looking for individuals that share our passion for excellence and want to join our team. It is essential that the successful applicant has a specific interest in Hand and Wrist Surgery. The role will include elective and trauma operating, fracture clinics and elective clinics. There will be an 'on-call' requirement on a 1:12 basis. It is hoped that the applicant can be appointed as soon as is practicable.
