Full Job Description

Applications are invited for a Locum Consultant Plastic Surgeon post with an interest in Breast Reconstruction and Microsurgery.
The successful applicant should be fully trained in all aspects of plastic surgery and have a sub specialist interest in microsurgical breast reconstruction. The post-holder will be expected to participate in the service, assisting colleagues with other key specialties including trauma, perineal reconstruction, skin, and contributing to the general furtherance of our Plastics Surgery Business Unit - which already has an outstanding reputation, both nationally and internationally, for highly specialised services, including tertiary facial palsy, breast surgery, melanoma and complex hand injuries.
Applicants must hold the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons or equivalent, and have completed a period of higher professional training, including a microsurgery fellowship. Applicants should possess the Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or equivalent, or be within six months of CCT at time of application., The post-holder will be expected to participate in the service, assisting colleagues with other key specialties including trauma, perineal reconstruction, skin, and contributing to the general furtherance of our Plastics Surgery Business Unit - which already has an outstanding reputation, both nationally and internationally, for highly specialised services, including tertiary facial palsy, breast surgery, melanoma and complex hand injuries., Rated GOOD overall with outstanding care by the CQC. We specialise in conditions of the eyes (corneoplastics), hands, head and neck cancer and skin cancer, reconstructive breast surgery, maxillofacial surgery and prosthetics, providing regional and national services in these areas of clinical expertise. Our world-leading clinical teams also treat more common conditions of the eyes, hands, skin, and teeth for the people of East Grinstead and the surrounding areas. In addition, QVH provides a minor injuries unit, expert therapies, a sleep service, and a growing portfolio of community-based services. We are fully committed to training and development of the workforce with support for continuing education and learning., The post holder will be based at the Queen Victoria Hospital, although mid-way through the post they will be required to provide backfill at UHSX, in order to support its lower limb trauma service.
the post holder will also be expected to participate in the service assisting colleagues with the management of trauma. The Consultants in the department have continued to develop subspecialist interests and make cross referrals to each other where appropriate.
The post holder will be expected to demonstrate skills that would complement and expand the existing skill mix in breast reconstruction.
The post holder will have access to an office, which may be shared, and desk along with secretarial support. Secretarial support is team-based and provided by the secretaries and coordinators.
