Full Job Description

These (two) locum Consultant posts are based at the PRUH sites. The remit of these roles will be to enhance the delivery of Colorectal Radiology services at the PRUH site and support general Radiology workloads. The post holder will work within the multi-disciplinary team providing a range of Radiology services for Colo-rectal and also support the Rapid Diagnostic Clinic pathway. The department has recently rolled out a home reporting solution for all consultant radiologists allowing for the potential of home reporting DCC sessions. In addition, the successful individuals will be required to play an active role in the general workload of the imaging departments while also having a significant commitment to teaching and training of junior staff, medical students and associated professional groups. It is envisaged that the appointees will contribute to the development and delivery of these services depending upon their interests and experience., The posts will be based at PRUH sites and the proposed Job Plans (up to 10 PAs) is attached. There will be an average of 9 Programmed Activities of Direct Clinical Care, with the remainder being allocated for Supporting Professional and/or other Activities. This is subject to review within 3 months of the postholders commencing in post.

The On-Call commitment is for a 1:15 rota delivered on the PRUH site and is classed as Category A. The frequency and on-call duties will change as the department expands. There is a commitment to undertake routine job planned work on Saturdays or Sundays as part of the total job planned PAs.

The Radiology Service is consultant delivered with an emphasis on providing a well-rounded service, including both acute and local speciality imaging. Acute care has been an emphasis given the volume of emergency work and to that end, this service has been reorganised, incorporating evolving changes in Consultant Job Plans, Departmental and Clinical pathways. PRUH radiology has recently been recognised as a training site for King's College Hospital radiology specialist registrars. Radiology consultants are supported by administration staff and the departmental PA and office space is available.
