Full Job Description

+ The post is for a Locum Consultant in Sexual Health and HIV Medicine based at the West Middlesex University Hospital.
+ The role will involve participating in 6 integrated sexual health clinics, and 1 HIV clinic weekly and will primarily be based at Twickenham House, West Middlesex University Hospital.
+ The post holder will, in conjunction with the existing Consultants, have responsibilities for providing advice, screening, diagnosis and treatment of patients with STIs, including HIV infection.
+ They will also be expected to provide service provision on all aspects of contraception and Long-Acting Reversible Contraception (LARC) and support the progress of the clinic towards provision of an integrated "one-stop" sexual health service.
+ Chelsea and Westminster NHS Trust has an active research portfolio. The post holder will be welcome to join the delegation log for existing studies and develop further research activities as a lead investigator if desired.
+ The appointee should expect that sessions may be re-allocated from time to time to meet changes in circumstances such as the development of new services, changes in consultant staff, expansion or reduction of existing services and the review and implementation of the Business Planning Program The appointee may also expect to work in the evening and at weekends. They may need to work at other healthcare premises within Chelsea & Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust or in outreach services managed by the Trust, + They will have a weekly HIV clinic, and manage a caseload of HIV patients. Our clinics serve a varied demographic, representing individuals requiring more complex HIV care.
+ They will work with nursing staff and allied health professionals to support nurse led models of care.
+ They will be expected to work alongside the other consultants in providing educational supervision for the multidisciplinary team and participate in Wednesday morning educational activities, and the weekly Directorate Virtual Antiretroviral Clinic meeting. In particular, the post holder will have clinical and/or educational supervisory responsibility for nominated junior staff. This role will include appraisal of the individuals concerned.
+ The post holder will be expected to help lead on innovations or service change designed to achieve local/national targets, develop/expand outreach services, optimise cost efficiency of the service, including implementation of new technologies and development of online service
+ The post-holder would be encouraged to develop further links with allied community organisations in order to develop non-traditional services designed to improve access for vulnerable, minoritised individuals.
+ They will engage in specific management tasks and contribute to monthly departmental meetings in agreement with the Clinical Lead., + Provide advice, screening, diagnosis and treatment of patients with STIs, including HIV infectio
+ Oversee expanded HIV testing provision, sexual and reproductive health delivery in the local community encouraging access for more vulnerable populations.
+ Lead for contraception and management of a caseload of patients attending for subdermal implants and intrauterine devi
+ Establish new patient pathways, alongside colleagues, to facilitate integration of contraceptive and sexual health service
+ Work with service lead and public health department of London Borough of Hounslow on development and implementation of sexual health services in local primary care practices and pharmacy premises
+ Provide consultant advice and support to multidisciplinary team working in GUM clin Review complex cases requiring senior input.
+ Manage a caseload of HIV patients and provide support for junior colleagues including management of seroconversion, starting/switching treatment and assessment and management of unwell patient
+ Assist on the West Middlesex site the process of moving the Trust towards adopting and achieving a zero HIV Stigma target by developing education and training strategies within the directorate and the Trust as a whole.
+ Work with colleagues to modernize the HIV care pathway to ensure effective use of resources.
