Full Job Description

This is a locum consultant post in Core General Urology. It is a whole-time (10 PA) 12 month fixed term post offering an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated Medic to join a dynamic, rapidly expanding team delivering multidisciplinary acute care in Mersey and West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals.,

  • Provide a consultation and advisory service to other clinical colleagues in other specialities within the Trust and Primary Care.
  • Participate in the development of the Urology service, treatment protocols and guidelines and the greater knowledge in the management of urological conditions.
  • In time develop and implement day case bladder outflow surgery pathways
  • Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with medical colleagues in other specialities and participate in regular clinical meetings and other post graduate activities.
  • Participate in the urology on-call rota with consultant colleagues to ensure that appropriate emergency services are provided out of normal working hours.
  • Make contribution to research and audit and in the development of trainee doctors within the speciality.
  • Develop and maintain good communications with General Practitioners and appropriate external agencies.
  • Demonstrate a firm involvement in clinical governance, risk management and clinical audit - this will include the development and maintenance of appropriate systems and practices to ensure continuous safe clinical practice.
  • Ensure own practice is up to date; this will include taking responsibility for own Clinical Professional Development and participating in the Trust's Performance and Review system.
  • Cooperate and collaborate with clinical and non-clinical colleagues of the Trust to ensure the best care for the patients

Specialist Regional Services We provide the Mersey Regional Burns & Plastic Surgery Unit at Whiston Hospital and the Spinal Injuries Unit at Southport Hospital to more than 4 million people across the whole of Merseyside, West Lancashire, Cheshire, Isle of Man and North Wales.
