Full Job Description
The post-holder will be expected to perform at the level of a Consultant Epilepologist at a tertiary Hospital. They will run their own epilepsy clinics, supervise an SPR led first seizure clinic, and work closely with the Epilepsy Specialist Nursing team. The post-holder will be expected to work patients up for resective surgery, intracranial recording, and neuromodulatory therapies. The postholder will be an active part of epilepsy-related MDT meetings. They will cover in-patients on the video-telemetry unit and help in the management of complex epilepsy patients across OUHFT. They will be required to integrate closely with the wider epilepsy team, which includes neurophysiologists, neuropsychologists, neuropsychiatrists, neurosurgeons, ward nursing, technologists, secretarial teams and multiple aligned health professionals. The postholder will also be on the general neurology on-call rota.
Research
The current post is allocated 4PAs for research time and the postholder will be expected to deliver across multiple research metrics. This will include the establishing of independent research projects and developing existing work within the Oxford Epilepsy Research Group. The postholder must contribute actively to peer-reviewed publications, supervision of research and visiting students and work on securing external grant funding. Audit, clinical research and participation in clinical trials are actively encouraged.
Applications are invited for a whole time Senior Research Fellow/Consultant Neurologist post providing exciting opportunities for clinical research in epilepsy. The post will be based on the John Radcliffe Hospital site. Sessions will be divided between general clinical neurology with a specialist interest in epilepsy and research. Applicants should have a proven research track record in epilepsy.
