Full Job Description

Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board has a vacancy for a full time 12-month Locum Consultant in Sexual Health and HIV within the Central Integrated health Community. We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic candidate to play an integral part in the transformation and delivery of a high-quality sexual health service.

The Consultant will join a highly motivated and friendly team of two consultants, nursing, administrative and pharmacy staff in the central integrated health. Additionally, you will be networked with a further 3 consultants and their respective teams who provide services in the West and East integrated health communities.

The successful appointee will be required to provide level 3 Genitourinary medicine and comprehensive care to those living with HIV. The successful applicant will be expected to help shape the development of the service, and have the opportunity to develop a special interest to augment and expand on current services provided., Provide clinical care to patients accessing sexual health and HIV services, Including screening, diagnosis, treatment and management of STIs, HIV prevention including pre and post exposure prophylaxis, providing advise and prescribing contraception including emergency contraception, safeguarding young people and adults. Provide clinical care and management to patients living with HIV and managing a patient caseload. Provide inpatient ward support to Ysbyty Glan Clwyd healthcare staff on the management of HIV patients resulting from complications associated with their condition or as a result of HIV treatment Monday to Friday during Sexual Health service clinic times only. Continuing responsibility for the care of patients including all administrative duties associated with patient care. Provide consultant clinical advice as required within the sexual health team and to primary and secondary care colleagues. Work with colleagues and service leads to establish new clinical pathways. Provide
supervision and support for the multidisciplinary team and provide telephone/email advice (in hours) to other health care professionals e.g. GPs, secondary care, pharmacists.

Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board is the largest health organisation in Wales, providing a full range of primary, community, mental health and acute hospital services for a population of around 676,000 people, across the six counties of North Wales (Anglesey, Gwynedd, Conwy, Denbighshire, Flintshire and Wrexham).
