Applications are invited for a Locum Specialist Trauma Surgeon to join our busy Trauma and Orthopaedic department, amongst a team of 24 Consultants for 12 months.
This is an exciting opportunity to join our friendly, enthusiastic and innovative team of orthopaedic consultants. Our region serves the population of Buckinghamshire, across the Stoke Mandeville and Wycombe Hospital sites. Most of the scheduled operating care is provided at Wycombe Hospital, with elective clinical work across both sites.

Applicants should possess FRCS (Tr & Orth) or equivalent, be registered with the General Medical Council . The successful applicant would start as soon as possible.
There may be a requirement to work weekends, as well as participation in the Consultant on-call rota., It is essential the successful candidate is able to demonstrate appropriate training & experience in orthopaedic trauma surgery. It is essential the candidate can demonstrate fellowship level training in Orthopaedic Surgery involving trauma delivery.
The successful candidate is expected to undertake trauma surgery and fracture clinics.

Current/most recent employer is always required., Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust is looking for a dynamic Locum Specialist Surgeon with specialist interest in trauma surgery. This is a locum 12 month Specialist Orthopaedic post attracting 10 PAs.
Elective surgery is carried out at Wycombe Hospital. There is a dedicated ward for elective orthopaedics in addition to a day surgery unit. The trauma service is based at Stoke Mandeville Hospital. The hospital has a designated Trauma Unit and provides acute surgical care to a population of 500,000. All trauma is centralised on the 'hot site' and this post will be working alongside a dedicated team of nurses, junior doctors, therapists and ortho-geriatricians to provide a first class, consultant led service. Two consultants manage the trauma service for a week rotating every 6 weeks, and this post will be working closely alongside a consultant colleague.
There is an excellent musculoskeletal radiology support with 24 hour CT scanning.
The Trust has the required arrangements in place to ensure that all surgeons have an annual appraisal with a trained appraiser and support surgeons going through the revalidation process. Further to this, the Trust offers a mentorship to all new consultants and the department would support the new consultant to identify an appropriate mentor.
PPE requirements: Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust requires all colleagues to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) in accordance with our infection prevention and control procedures.
