Full Job Description

Based within the Naval Stores complex at HMS Collingwood , we are looking for a versatile Stores Administrator with the ability to provide a broad and flexible service to the Armed Forces (predominantly the Royal Navy). Employed as an Administrator with specific responsibilities, there will be the potential to rotate through various elements of professional tasks when required to meet the needs of the business. Training can be provided, where appropriate.,

  • Demand specialist equipment and stores.

  • Input, progress and maintain all demands on the Management of the Joint Deployed Inventory (MJDI) stores accounting application.

  • Monitor and Record equipment and stores transactions.

  • Act as an interface between suppliers and other relevant stakeholders on specialist equipment and stores which have been ordered.

  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with all stakeholders, promoting customer service excellence.

  • Communicate any problems arising from day-to-day activities that may impact the business operations to the users.

  • Undertake any additional tasks as determined by the Line Manager, including leading on change to meet the emerging needs of the business.

    The successful candidate will be well-organized, precise, confident with credible communication skills readily able and willing to contribute at all levels. In addition, the individual will be versatile, intuitive, and professional with good judgement and absolute integrity. Proactive and persuasive when required and responsive to changing needs of the business and demands of the customer, while remaining calm under pressure and self-motivated, the incumbent will be reliable and well presented, giving a positive image of MITIE company values. In addition, the following is needed:

  • IT literate with a good working knowledge of MS Office applications.

  • Proven track record of delivering quality administration and service with customer-facing experience.

  • Ability to adapt to short notice changes to requirements and deadlines.

  • Good standard of education, preferably grade C or equivalent in English and Mathematics.

  • Occasional local travel to work at other sites to provide absence cover as necessary.

  • Conversant/knowledge of MOD Management of the Joint Deployed Inventory (MJDI) stores accounting applications (desirable).


  • Additional Information

    MOD security clearance and DBS Standards are required. To meet national security vetting requirements, you will normally need to have been resident in the UK for at least 3 years to gain a Counter Terrorist Check, 5 years for Security Clearance and 10 years for Developed Vetting prior to the date of application. All Developed Vetted posts are required to be UK Nationals.

    The Contract operates a 37.5-hour working week between the hours of 0730 and 1700 Mon to Fri only. The current working hours allow for an early finish on a Friday.
