Full Job Description

The Force Logistics Team are looking for a highly motivated and organised individual to join their team and undertake the role of Logistics Co-ordinator. In this post you will be responsible for managing the joint force logistics' team across Surrey and Sussex Police, planning routes and work allocations, whilst offering support and mentoring to the team, managing their performance with 121's and training needs. This is a full time position working Monday to Friday, totalling 37 hours. You will cover the whole of Surrey and Sussex with start and finish location either being Surrey or Sussex HQ. If you have a positive approach to delivering a responsive and efficient service, this could be the role for you. Key responsibilities will include: -

  • General day to day management of the team - return to work, 1-2-1's, managing performance, training needs, general support.
  • Cover a range of driving duties and distribution services across Surrey and Sussex (and occasionally beyond)
  • Distribute and collect mail around both forces on a daily basis
  • Assist in operational driving requirements where required
  • Undertake distribution duties to include the transfer of uniform, petty cash, seized property, waste streams, case papers and other operational and support requests.
  • Responsible for all physical checks on vehicles used, seeing that vehicles are serviced at the recommended intervals and that maintenance issues are attended to promptly.

    Educated to GCSE standard or equivalent or have a general proficiency in reading, writing, maths and communication in order to undertake the role to a suitable standard
  • In possession of a full clean D1 driving licence and have the ability to pass the tests to drive any relevant types of Police vehicles including personnel carriers
  • Required to successfully pass vetting
  • Must be well organised
  • Good time management
  • Attention to detail - logical and methodical way of working
  • Good standard of computer packages, including Microsoft Outlook and Excel
  • Good verbal and communication skills
  • Physically fit and able to lift and carry
  • Previous experience of managing teams
  • Comfortable and capable in leading a team, managing multiple people across a large area, making sure to stay in regular contact with all
  • To work effectively as a member of the management team and be able to lead the team through times of change
  • Proven working knowledge of H&S management in the workplace. Ideally with an IOSH managing safely qualification, or be willing to undertake this training
  • Sufficient knowledge of motor vehicles to perform basic checks and to undertake minor maintenance.

    This role is within a unit where Surrey Police and Sussex Police work in collaboration, whilst remaining two separate legal entities/employers with different terms and conditions.
  • Both Surrey Police staff and Sussex Police staff are employed in this unit on their own force terms and conditions. Successful candidates may be appointed on the terms and conditions of employment of either Surrey Police or Sussex Police, depending on organisational requirements. A discussion will be held with the successful candidate to confirm the details of location, salary, allowances and hours.
