• Driving: Operate large vehicles, such as articulated lorries, tankers, and trailer wagons, to transport goods across the country and overseas
• Planning: Work with transport managers to plan routes and schedules, and consider traffic reports to adapt routes if necessary
• Loading and unloading: Help load and unload goods safely, and ensure they are securely secured
• Maintenance: Perform basic mechanical maintenance, such as checking the oil, brakes, and tires, before and after journeys
• Documentation: Complete delivery paperwork and keep up-to-date logbooks
• Awareness: Be aware of the UK highway code and any route diversions or updates
• Breaks: Plan driver breaks for safety during long-distance hauls
