Full Job Description

To arrange transportation services with third party providers in support of the company's commercial activities, in consideration of targets on safety, performance and cost.,

  • To effect timely arrangement of freight in consideration of customer performance and cost.
  • To capture, assess and track extra or non-standard costs, including cost recovery.
  • To plan your own work to maximise effectiveness and efficiency of customer services to meet deadlines given by both the customer and Multisol.
  • To verify values for all payable invoices relating to transportation activities.
  • To manage the haulier approval process.
  • To communicate with hauliers and freight forwarders to arrange quotations and transportation rates.
  • To handle investigation into and reporting of all transport related incidents/accidents, customer complaints and supplier non-conformance.
  • To monitor and maintain records of haulier performance against expected service levels, identify and log non-conformance, assess appropriateness of corrective actions and steward their effectiveness.
  • To conduct competitive comparisons of approved suppliers rates and performance data detailed above, as required by existing or potential commercial activities.
  • To track, record and provide KPI reports to the supply chain management team; proposing and then action changes to help achieve performance targets.
  • To run system reports and manipulate data as requested by the supply chain management team.
  • To initiate and support continuous improvement of business systems relating to company transport activities and cost reductions.
  • To provide back-up and support to team colleagues

    GCSE qualifications or equivalent
  • Experience in bulk and packed goods transport planning together with an understanding of vehicle logistics, freight operations and supply chain principles
  • Good administration skills
  • High level of organisational skills - flexible approach with ability to prioritise
  • High level of communication skills (verbal and written) with a variety of internal and external parties (customers, drivers, suppliers, operational staff, management, regulatory authorities), including ability to present information and be pro-active at meetings
  • Good document and data management skills with accuracy and attention to detail
  • IT skills - working knowledge of Microsoft Office package, particularly Excel
  • Ability to work well in a team with ability to identify external and internal teams
  • Ability to manage and plan work load, responding to strict deadlines
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Practical and pro-active approach to tasks with ability to be flexible in a dynamic environment
  • Desirable:
  • ADR Movement of Dangerous Goods or Current DGSA qualification
  • Experience in stock reconciliations
  • Experience in planning and managing the movement of hazardous chemicals including use of SDS and - bulk and packaged goods
  • Experience in arranging export consignments- sea and air , understanding of incoterms
  • Experience of invoice verification and approval
  • Advanced use of Excel, including ability to set up data model spreadsheets, using formulae, links, charts and pivot tables
  • Use of Sage 1000 stock systems
  • Working knowledge of Dangerous Goods Regulations
  • Working knowledge of Working Time Directive and how it applies to drivers
