Full Job Description

The school has up to 420 children on roll. Lunchtimes are held in sittings, with children eating outside or in the school's canteen and playing on the playground areas (unless weather dictates indoor play). The school is at the beginning of our OPAL (Outdoor Play and Learning) journey alongside an OPAL mentor, to develop playtime provision for our children. We aim to create a culture of play for our children and encourage them to be leaders in their own play through the development of engaging activities, careful risk management strategies and stimulating equipment and resources.

Lunchtime playworkers support children in their play, helping them to socialise, be active and be creative; facilitating games and activities; supporting the safe use of equipment and resources; encouraging teamwork and modelling this with other adults; communicating with children and adults effectively, developing positive relationships and keeping everyone safe; supervising children while they're eating their lunch (and assisting where necessary); wiping and cleaning the canteen floor and surfaces prior to and after lunches; and, organising playground equipment, setting up and clearing away with the children as required.
This role is for 2 hours per day (currently 11:45 - 13:45), term time only. Termly meetings are held for lunchtime staff, which can be attended on a claim-basis in addition to the 10-hour per week contract.

The Governors are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and motivated Lunchtime playworker to join our school's hard working and dedicated lunchtime team. The role and expectations for this post are outlined in the job description and job specification (both available on request or from the school's website). The ultimate responsibility of a Lunchtime playworker is to ensure children have a meaningful, happy and safe lunchtime in a stimulating play environment.
