Full Job Description

The Lymphoedema Assistant will co-ordinate, organise and prepare the day-to-day running of the Lymphoedema clinics to ensure the delivery of an efficient service. They will work as part of a team and alone under the direction and supervision of the Lymphoedema Lead Specialist and the Lymphoedema Practitioner, to assist with specified clinical duties and tasks, in the provision of an efficient, caring, patient focused service. The post holder will contribute to in-group activities for Lymphoedema patients and will deal with queries from patients, Health Care Professionals and other agencies face to face and by telephone. The role will also involve administration and clerical duties including inputting data on computer systems. The post holder will also support the 'On the Ground Education Programme' (OGEP) within the Lymphoedema service, this programme promotes joint working with other teams to raise awareness to identify patients with oedema and early referrals. The post holder will be expected to travel to various locations within the health board Secondment would be considered assure line managers permission, Carry out delegated lymphoedema treatment programmes in a variety of settings (e.g. community clinics) Encourage patients/carers to adopt an active approach to regaining andmaintaining personal independence Collate and enter statistical data onto the departmental databaseunder take various administration and clerical duties Keep the work areas tidy, clean the equipment regularly and ensure that damaged or problem equipment is reported to Line Manager immediately Promote high standards of patient care guiding more junior colleagues and less experienced staff in departmental policies and procedures and acting as a point of contact for patients and their carers
