Please note that on 1^st July 2022, Banes, Swindon & Wiltshire CCG will cease to exist. At this time the Integrated Care Board (ICB) in BSW will be established, to be known formally as NHS BSW ICB. NHS BSW ICB assume all the commissioning functions from BSW NHS Commissioners., The Macmillan Transformation Lead will work alongside the ICB's Palliative and End of Life Care (PEoLC) Alliance to improve outcomes for patients and the sustainability of PEoLC services by:
+ Providing strategic leadership and support to statutory and non-statutory organisations including the BSW PEoLC Alliance to facilitate enhanced provision and coordination of care.
+ Developing an understanding of the local assets, needs, and inequalities, to support the development of PEoLC strategic plans using the Ambitions Self-Assessment Framework.
+ Raising the profile of PEoLC across the local policy and broader strategic agendas.
+ Supporting the statutory core responsibility of the ICB to ensure that system wide accessible high quality, safe palliative, and end of life care, tailored to the needs of the individual is available.
+ Providing an innovative, ambitious, and solution-focussed approach to unblocking barriers and leading the transformation of services to meet the individual needs of patients and address inequalities in care provision.
+ Supporting the strategic direction of new and widened collaborative opportunities to transform and develop sustainable PEoLC services.
+ Developing and supporting local, regional, and national networks to share PEoLC best practice and learn from others' successes.
+ Empowering people with lived experience and local subject matter experts to co-produce local services for local people.
+ Assisting Macmillan in gaining a greater insight into present and future PEoLC need and to ensure alignment with the Partnership teams and their priorities.
The ICB is responsible for ensuring that high quality and safe health services are accessible to all our communities. It has a wide range of functions including promoting integration of health and care services, improving people's health and wellbeing, and reducing health inequalities. The role will support the strategic design and direction of palliative and end of life care services across the ICS working in collaboration with key ICS and regional partners across the statutory, non-statutory and VCSE sectors.
BSW ICB is obligated to manage conflicts of interest effectively in order to protect healthcare professionals and maintain public trust in the NHS. Are you passionate about end-of-life care? Are you interested in overseeing and coordinating complex and innovative projects across a number of multi-agency health and care partners to develop and achieve agreed outcomes? Are you able to work with our BSW Together system partners to build sustainable quality improvement in end of life care?
BSW ICB is working with Macmillan Cancer Support, who are investing in new roles to support systems in providing leadership and creating capacity to bring about sustained transformational change in palliative and end of life care (PEOLC). These new transformational roles will support the strategic design and direction of services, rather than direct delivery.
This transformational role requires a leader who can strengthen relationships and ways of working that builds capacity and capability to support the system and partners to a state of maturity to deliver transformational change in PEOLC. Working in partnership to ensure that everyone at the end of their life has their vital needs met by high quality sustainable and supportive services.
The post is a fixed term for 18 months and could be suitable for a secondment. The base for the role is in the BSW Chippenham headquarters and covers the BSW geographical area, with hybrid working and meetings across BSW.

The required start date must be no later than 28th of October 2024, however successful candidate will be required to attend the Macmillan Leadership Academy on the 24^th and 25^th of September 2024

The successful post holder will support and provide strategic leadership to the BSW End of Life Alliance and the BSW health and care system and work with our system partners across the BSW integrated care system (ICS) to deliver the:
