Apply now to become part of our extraordinary legacy. The Mail Services Department is a critical infrastructure component with roots dating back to the university's early communication systems. Established formally in the mid-20th century, the department has evolved from traditional postal handling to a sophisticated communication and logistics network that supports one of the world's most prestigious academic institutions, connecting Colleges, academic departments, multiple research centres, administrative offices, and international research partnerships. This role is essential in ensuring efficient and accurate mail handling across the University., As the Mail Services Assistant, you'll balance hands-on and office-based responsibilities. You'll oversee bookings, manage customer queries, and ensure smooth processes, from handling franking machine credit to auditing customer records. Whether coordinating with suppliers or troubleshooting shipment issues, you'll ensure the service runs seamlessly. This is a full-time, on-site role with hours between 8:00 am and 4:30 pm
We are looking for someone who demonstrates the following skills and qualities:
- Communication and Customer Service: Confidence in engaging with customers, providing professional advice, and resolving queries effectively.
- Organisational Skills and Attention to Detail: Ability to manage multiple tasks, maintain accurate records, and ensure processes run smoothly.
- IT Proficiency: Competence in using the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Outlook) and mobile device operating systems.
- Problem-Solving Skills: A proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues efficiently.
- Administrative Experience: A proven track record of delivering effective administrative support in a professional setting.
- Flexibility and Positivity: A positive attitude and able to adapt to varying work hours, which will range between 8:00 am-4:00 pm and 8:30 am-4:30 pm.
