Contract Type: Permanent Shift patterns: PM & Weekends Location: Skelmersdale, WN8 8DY Closing date: 21st November 2024 Digital Manufacturing is a dynamic and fast-paced internal engineering technology team within DHL Supply Chain. We supply custom technology solutions to DHL operations, enhancing our competitive edge. Our team designs, builds, installs, and maintains custom and market-sourced automation, robotics, conveyor sortation, and data capture products across the global supply chain business. We are seeking a dedicated Maintenance Engineer to service and maintain Digital Manufacturing controlled systems within DHL operations. You will work closely with site teams to resolve issues, fix breakdowns, complete planned preventative maintenance (PPM), identify root causes, and assist with coordination between sites and the engineering team, both technical and operational, across various DHL sites in the UK. WHAT DOES THE ROLE ENTAIL? As part of your normal duties, whilst maintaining excellent health and safety practices, you will:
- Maintain and service Digital Manufacturing responsible equipment.
- Complete all relevant documentation, including PPM, service schedules, downtime logs, and reporting.
- Investigate failures and implement remedial actions.
- Work with hand tools and electrical test equipment.
- Comply with statutory regulations for electrical/mechanical machinery.
- Process paperwork ensuring compliance with company and statutory policies and requirements.
- Complete planned preventative maintenance and provide operational support where required.
- Attend regular meetings with the team to ensure adherence to plans and delivery of business strategy.
- Ensure that projects are completed to the highest standard.
- Provide feedback on the improvement of new and existing systems.
- Assist in the creation of all relevant manuals, Safe Systems of Work (SSOW), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and Health and Safety documentation in line with legislative and company policies.
- Support the broader Co-Packing operation. WHAT DO WE NEED FROM YOU?
- Knowledge of supply chain and co-packing experience - desirable.
- Completion of, or currently studying, an engineering qualification - preferred.
- Competent with MS Office and Excel.
- Confident and demonstrable at self-teaching.
- Competent at understanding and interpreting engineering drawings.
- Experience in service or maintenance of field equipment.
- Relevant qualification in Maths, English, Sciences, Computer Science, Design, Engineering, or similar.
