gap technical are proud to be representing a Market Leading Aerospace business in their search for an Mechanically Biased Maintenance Engineer to work at their facility based in Southampton Performance Objectives

  • Perform routine maintenance on CNC machines, presses, robots, chemical treatment plants, ovens, and burners.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical issues on a variety of machinery.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance to ensure equipment reliability and performance.
  • Implement and maintain safe work practices and procedures.
  • Collaborate with other departments to schedule and perform maintenance activities without disrupting production.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and equipment performance.
  • Knowledge of CNC machines, presses, robots, and chemical treatment processes.

    Basic electrical knowledge and the ability to perform basic electrical repairs.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with risk assessments and safety systems such as COSHH, safe working practices, and working at heights.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
  • Familiarity with computer-aided maintenance management systems (CMMS).
  • Willingness to work flexible hours and overtime as needed., The successful candidate will ideally of completed a time-served mechanical engineering apprenticeship
  • A background in Aerospace or Metal Forming will be a distinct advantage however not a prerequisite.
  • Ability to fault find on mechanical systems including hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical drives gearboxes, motors etc
  • Knowledge and understanding of electrical safety procedure Safe Isolation, LOTO
