Full Job Description

Apple Orchard have five homes in Surrey and West Sussex. Each home is set in a rural location and offers a comfortable homely environment for young males aged 13-18 years. We aim to help young people to develop insight into their experiences in order that they can move on from their often damaged traumatic past. We support them as they take steps to make sense of their lives by providing clear and safe boundaries and achievable goals. This includes positive reinforcement strategies such as reward charts and free time. Central to our work is the need to provide a high level of nurturing which ensures all the basic needs of the young person are met to the highest standard. This includes providing a home that has a warm and friendly atmosphere where great emphasis is placed on building supportive relationships and positive attachments. We are currently looking for a Maintenance Operative to join the team, and the successful applicant will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, or fixing a variety of items in and outside of our homes throughout Surrey and West Sussex. Main duties:

  • Fixing doors and fitting skirting boards
  • Snagging
  • Tiling
  • Painting and decorating
  • Ground Maintenance
  • Undertaking small plumbing repairs
  • Undertaking small electrical repairs
  • Replacing double glazing units.
  • Proactive and reactive maintenance duties
  • Liaising with home managers undertaking work to ensure timely completion
  • General fixes including changing locks, flat pack assembly and some garden works
  • This list is not an exhaustive list of duties and you may be asked to undertake such other duties that are required within the role.
  • Managing/engaging with contractors as required for larger works at the properties

    Must hold a full driving licence
  • Knowledge of legislation, regulatory and best practice requirements for Health and Safety
  • At least 5 years' experience of property Maintence or relevant experience
  • Knowledge of administering procurement and supplier management
  • Be willing to travel throughout Surrey and West Sussex to our properties
  • Basic IT Skills
  • Excellent abilities to work on own initiative and is flexible
