Full Job Description
You will be reporting to the Maintenance Manager. The purpose of your role is to support the Maintenance Manager and the other Operational Leaders in the effective planning of maintenance activities across the Sourcing Unit, this will also include ensuring 3rd party and critical maintenance activities are planned and managed effectively. You will be responsible for ensuring full compliance to all legal and mandatory engineering requirements and to provide support in analysis to continually improve the equipment reliability and cost effectiveness of the Factory maintenance programme. You will play a key role in the operational model during Preparation, Execution and Standard working phases. During Preparation, you will work with the Engineering Technician through maintenance planning processes, develop new and streamline current PM activities and optimising frequencies as required. During Deployment and Execution, you will schedule weekly tasks from the factory masterplan, modify tasks when required and arrange engineering resources aligned to the weekly maintenance plan with the Engineering Technician. You will provide detailed analysis on maintenance performance within your area, highlighting gaps and areas for improvement. Where necessary, it is expected that the maintenance planner actively carries out maintenance activities or supports problem solving and expediting the resolution to stoppages caused by equipment condition., Maintenance
- Support the Maintenance Manager / OSHE Advisor in identifying statutory activities to be carried out within the department
- Assist in the identification of critical control points on the equipment and that they are able to be inspected according to relevant procedures. Ensure that these requirements are included in the maintenance schedules
- Ensure 5S standards are clearly defined and followed as well as performing 5S audit according to the defined schedule and implement the improvement actions
- Manage the maintenance planning systems and processes for maintenance slots, overhauls and engineering workshops, generating the required task lists
- Lead the maintenance planning for your assigned area, assisting with assessment of appropriate resource availability and the tasks can occur without conflicting requirements.
- Administration of resource scheduling - assessing resource optimisation and allocation
- Lead the PM sessions on your allocated lines, ensuring effective kick off and close out of each slot
- Ensure that the learnings from maintenance activities and breakdowns are fed back into the maintenance schedules and equipment ledgers
- Ensure the Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) & Key Activity Indicators (KAIs) for maintenance are graphically generated and reviewed, and the gap analysis is carried out on a regular basis to understand and input into the improvement plan
- Be involved on equipment ranking process and apply criteria to prioritize maintenance
- Look to reduce frequency and time of PM schedules through improvements or loss reduction
- Manage assigned maintenance contracts/Subcontractor activities
- Ownership of the Emergency Work Order (EWO) system including trending & analysing EWO data, action tracking and action closure for EWOs.
- Develop an Equipment ledger focussed Preventative maintenance strategy Safety
- Proactive in the machine and people safety of self and others
- Be an Advocate for safety and set the standard for the Maintenance Engineers and Subcontractors
- Adherence to Site and Legislative safety standards (Codes of practice)
- Involvement in safety and risk assessments as appropriate, including carrying out hazard inspections
- Responsible for carrying out site safety audits such as SBOs and DCAs
- Coordination of machinery safety activities Maintenance

- To help ensure site compliance with all Quality, Environmental Standards, Site Rules and Regulations, Code of Business Principles and Computer Usage including email and internet and Procedures
- Deliver the site factory services at 100% service levels whilst remaining within operational standards at all times.
- Responsible for the scheduling & compliance of maintenance for all food safety critical equipment.
- Support the site quality and management team during key quality audits. Cost
- Specify and order spares as appropriate adhering to local authorities and recording processes.
- Work closely with the Maintenance Manager to ensure budgets and priorities remain a focus General
- Ensure that all documentation and manuals are kept up to date and stored in an organised manner.
- Ensure all workshop and office areas are kept neat and tidy by the application of the 5S principles.
- Record and review (in the appropriate Maintenance Management systems) all engineering issues that occur on the shift, provide a detailed report for the morning review
- Maintain regular contact with the Maintenance Manager and Team Leaders throughout the shift and be fully aware of the site priorities to maintain site manufacturing and safety. Reviews
- Regular review with Management including safety, performance reviews, breakdown analysis & work progress
Completed a recognised engineering apprenticeship and have applied their mechanical and electrical skills in their current (or recent) role - Ideally Mechanical and Electrical Multiskilled
- Qualified to ONC/HND and NVQ3 or equivalent, You will have previous experience with Maintenance Management Within a manufacturing setting
- Condition based monitoring: e.g. Thermography, vibration analysis etc.
- Failure Mode Effect Analysis
- Predictive techniques: e.g. oils analysis, historical data from CMMS systems to predict component lifecycle.
- Asset management
- You will hold a Technical Qualification (formal engineering apprenticeship (dual skill) advanced diploma or equivalent + NVQ 3 in both disciplines)
- Experience of Diagnostic/Fault finding/ Lubrication
- Experienced in CMMS (Computer Maintenance Management Systems)
