Full Job Description

We have an opportunity for a Maintenance Surveyor to join our Housing and Property team, based in Sheffield. The role is primarily lone working, within a team of 8 surveyors and 2 seniors covering Sanctuary properties in the North regional area. The role of Maintenance Surveyor will include:

  • Undertaking property inspections in line with organisational policies and procedures to ensure regulatory compliance and contract performance
  • Project management of planned works
  • Attending and contributing to on site meetings
  • Coordinating and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring they are kept informed of progress by providing clear and precise updates
  • Managing external contractors to ensure maintenance work is carried out in accordance with contract specifications and programmes

  • We work closely with the Home Office in order to prevent unlawful working. A basic Disclosure and Barring Service check will be necessary in the event of a successful application which we will pay for. Sanctuary Maintenance Contractors Limited is a subsidiary of Sanctuary Housing Association, an exempt charity.

  • To ensure full compliance with health and safety legislation, candidates applying for this role must be qualified to AssocRIC, MRICS or CIOB, Degree, HND or HNC in Surveying or currently undertaking the qualification. If you have a lower level qualification along with practical experience and would be prepared to undertake the qualification with the support of Sanctuary Group, we would still welcome an application
  • Proven experience in working with others to deliver property related works, including indirect reports and third-party suppliers
  • Experience of working within a building, surveying and maintenance environment
  • Working knowledge of legislations and best practice
  • Ability to extract and interpret computerised information and documentation
  • Proficient user of Microsoft packages
  • This role will involve driving on company business. In order to drive a company vehicle, drivers must hold a full valid UK driving licence

  • Role salary is £31,611 with an additional policy allowance of £4,760 per annum (rising to £33,275 with an additional policy allowance of £5,011 per annum after 12 months, subject to satisfactory performance)
  • The full time equivalent salary for this role is £36,127 with an additional policy allowance of £5,440 based on 40 hours per week rising to £38,029 with an additional policy allowance of £5,727 per annum after 12 months service and subject to satisfactory performance
