Full Job Description

Are you an experienced and enthusiastic Planner who wants to drive forward major strategic projects? Are you positive, customer focussed, and passionate about creating a great place to live, work and visit? Did you answer yes? If so, we might just have the perfect opportunity for you and would very much like to hear from you! We have an exciting opportunity for you to join our Strategic Growth Team where you will be leading on strategic planning projects across the District. The Strategic Growth Team have experience of and continue to deal with a comprehensive range of applications and development types including a new 4250 home community currently under construction. In addition to this, Blaby District Council has been granted Garden Village status by the government for the potential future development of Whetstone Pastures in the south-east of the District. Reporting to the Strategic Growth Manager, you will work closely with the other Major Schemes Officers in the Strategic Growth Team to process major planning applications and provide advice and guidance on major development proposals. Other key duties include but are not limited to:

  • Facilitating collaborative working with key stakeholders and other planning departments
  • Negotiating and securing Planning Performance Agreements
  • Presenting applications to planning committee
  • Supporting and developing bids for external funding
  • Writing commissioning briefs for development proposals

    Each day will be varied, therefore having a minimum of 5 years planning development management experience and experience of processing major planning applications is an essential for the role., Disability Confident
