Full Job Description

Male Learning Support Assistant (LSA) is required for a successful college in Lewisham to support a male student. This is a Monday to Friday long term position to commence ASAP. The student has can access their learning and studying an academic qualification. He has a physical disability requires support around the college and potentially requires personal care. It is imperative that the successful male LSA is open to supporting with personal care where necessary. You will provide 1:1 support to your student and assist in classroom activities in a supportive and inclusive educational environment.

  • Provide 1:1 support to a male student with a physical disability in their studies.
  • Assist in classroom activities under the direction of the teacher.
  • You have an enhanced DBS on the update service.
  • Must live in easy commutable distance to the Lewisham Borough
  • Supporting your student with personal care, including hygiene, as required.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Monitor and record student progress and report to the relevant staff.
  • Assist in the preparation of learning materials and resources.
  • Encourage student independence and self-confidence.
  • Implement individual learning plans and strategies.
  • Maintain a safe and supportive environment for all students.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals to support student development.
  • Attend and participate in relevant meetings, training sessions, and reviews.
  • Uphold the college s policies and procedures, including safeguarding and equality and diversity.

    Previous experience as a Learning Support Assistant or in a similar role is essential.
  • Experience in providing 1:1 support to students within the classroom
  • Experience in assisting with personal care.
  • Strong understanding of the educational needs of students in FE settings.
  • Relevant qualifications in education or support work (e.g., CACHE Level 3).
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • Empathy, patience, and a caring nature.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Flexibility and adaptability in responding to the needs of the students.
  • Commitment to promoting the welfare and safeguarding of children and young people.
