Full Job Description

We are currently looking for a Management Accountant to join the Finance Team. The post would suit someone looking to progress within accounting as the team is small and there are opportunities to learn new skills whilst supporting the operational staff within the hospital. The successful candidate will support the budget setting and budget management meetings, the month end and year end process and look for and recommend efficiency savings. The post reports directly to the Deputy Head of Finance and will be expected to work closely with the Financial Accountant and provide guidance to junior members of staff. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate good communication skills, an awareness of commercial accounting balanced with the ability to work in a complex NHS environment.

We are looking for candidates who have made progress with an accounting qualification (AAT or in professional accounting) or have a number of years' experience within an accounts department. NHS experience is desirable but not necessary as full training will be given.,

  • Excellent communication skills, including explaining financial concepts to non-financial staff;
  • Advanced IT and Excel skills, including analysis of large amounts of data;
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines; and the
  • Ability to work independently, identifying priorities and adapting flexibly to manage these.
