Full Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity to join a unit that has a responsibility for delivering service improvement across the Force for the benefit of the public.

We are looking for Management Information and Statistical Services Manager to lead on the provision management information internally and externally in accordance with statutory requirements and provide specialist advice on the measurement and interpretation of crime and other statistics.

The post holder will need to develop a detailed understanding of our information systems to facilitate the delivery of management information products. The post holder will oversee, on behalf of the Force, the submission of data to the Home Office in compliance with the statutory Annual Data Returns (ADR) and to other external stakeholders such as HMICFRS. The successful candidate will also be responsible for ensuring reliable, timely and accurate provision of Service Improvement Management Information (MI) internally, to inform Chief Officers, supervisors and staff of current performance.

You will supervise a team responsible for interrogating Force databases, collating and assessing the data in order to provide management and other statistical information to internal and external customers either on a regular basis or in response to an ad-hoc enquiry and produce written reports as appropriate. You will assess each request to ensure the data provided is in accordance with the Force's statutory obligation, Force policy, information sharing agreement and relevant legislation. You will be expected to review Force IT systems and the data reports to improve data quality and ensure that information can be extracted as efficiently and as effectively as possible. You will need to continuously develop your own technical skills and understanding of the organisation to facilitate this.

In the role, you will also work with the Service Improvement analysts, advisors and technical developers to drive improvement for victims of crime across the Thames Valley. The post holder will be oversee the processes associated with the carrying out of staff, user and public surveys.

Proven experience in the production of statistical information, including the development and interpretation of measures of performance is essential. You will have a degree and/or experience of research and statistics in police or similar environment. You will need excellent communication skills and substantial experience of using Microsoft Office together with the ability to learn new systems. You will also be highly motivated, with the ability to plan and manage workloads as you will be working to strict deadlines. Strong decision-making and problem solving skills as well as the ability to innovate and influence changes are required. Knowledge of a range of areas of policing and a professional qualification in analysis is desirable but not essential.
