Full Job Description
To manage complex compliance projects as a member of a leading, global Monitoring Trustee practice; acting as the eyes and ears of the competition authorities. You will take ownership of the oversight of implementation of structural and/or behavioural remedies by large multinational companies. You will manage the day-to-day work of multidisciplinary teams and be responsible for drafting of regular reports to the competition authorities. You will work on high-profile cases, involving global and listed companies, and report to competition authorities around the globe including: the European Commission, the UK Competition and Markets Authority, the Federal Trade Commission in the US and the State Administration for Market Regulation in China. Your project portfolio will include Big Tech regulation and a wide range of sectors such as: financial services, aviation, consumer goods, utilities, etc. As a Manager in the team, some of your responsibilities will include:
- Managing compliance projects concerning the implementation of remedies offered by parties in the context of merger, antitrust, state aid proceedings.
- Scrutinizing the implementation of structural and/or behavioural remedies by the parties in the context of: + divestiture processes (including the suitable purchaser's assessment), viability of divestment businesses, hold-separate/ring-fencing + conduct, access, pricing provisions, including FRAND remedies.
- Drafting periodic progress reports to the competition authorities and in this context: + liaising with the parties and their advisors to establish and maintain adequate channels of communication + identifying and collecting information required for the purpose of throughout yet balanced monitoring + scrutinising submissions from the parties, including third parties + promptly identifying compliance risks (and potential issues) and escalating matters, as required, internally and externally + managing various stakeholders with different objectives and incentives.
- Contributing to the growth and global success of the practice by way of: + adhering to the quality standards at all times + identifying business development opportunities and participating in networking events + contributing to engagements with potential clients.

- case / project leads working at competition authorities or competition sector regulators
- compliance leads, consultants, auditors, transaction or corporate finance specialists
- technology experts with an expertise in digital markets
- in-house staff responsible for the implementation of compliance / remedy programmes and/or monitoring of compliance with competition law. Key competencies: We are in search of a candidate who is motivated, is organised, has strong analytical skills, a critical eye and excellent report writing capabilities. The candidate should be willing to take on high levels of responsibility and be a team player that can build and develop relationships with all internal and external stakeholders.
- Project management: responsibility for the day-to-day management of complex compliance projects, at various stages of the project's cycle. Successful and timely delivery of compliance projects.
- Analytical/ critical thinking: responsibility for the review of technical submissions from the parties and assessing compliance position. Able to sift through information to identify key issues, prioritise critical areas, seek guidance where necessary.
- Drafting: responsibility for drafting of reports / sections of reports to the highest standards. Clear, concise and accurate presentation of, often technical, arguments with the changing audience in mind.
- Commercial awareness: responsibility for building and maintaining constructive relationships with the commercial side of the enterprise; able to skilfully reconcile the conflicting nature of the Monitoring Trustee's appointment. It would also be preferable for a candidate to have the following (although not essential):
- Experience with competition remedies: relevant experience in merger and/or antitrust remedies (designing, implementing or monitoring).
- Languages: fluency in a second language.
- Travel: ability and willingness to travel.
