Full Job Description

You will work as part of a team of Health Operations specialists, supporting Clients to solve their most difficult problems. The work is complex, demanding and challenging, but also incredibly interesting and fulfilling. We work across a range of capability areas including but not limited to; operational and financial improvement, commissioning and financial management, service and care pathway design and implementation, target operating model design and implementation, and programme delivery.

Our team is flexible, and colleagues often work across a number of areas. Examples of the kind of projects you could work on include:

  • Operational and financial improvement, including; but not limited to;


  • - Delivery of cost improvement plans (CIP)

    - Theatres optimisation

    - Nurse rostering improvement

    - Medical job planning

    - Temporary pay controls

    - Emergency Department flow optimisation

    - Procurement and non-pay controls and efficiency

    - Quality improvement plan, do, study, act projects

  • Target operating model design and implementation;


  • - This could include clinical operating models, shared service operating models, or provider group operating models through formal mergers or informal group working arrangements

    - Working with Executive teams to develop design principles

    - Development of directional and high level designs

    - Undertaking detailed design activity across all layers of operations including; people, data, organisation, process, technology and others

    Leadership: You have the ability to demonstrate leadership skills in large and diverse project teams

    Influencing: You have the confidence to work across multiple levels of an organisation, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and navigate challenging discussions

    Core consulting skills: Ability to demonstrate core consulting skills such as, presentation skills, stakeholder management and able to build rapport quickly.

    Technical skills and experience

    Essential
  • Prior experience of working in the NHS in a managerial, financial and/or clinical role with experience of managing a team of direct reports, OR experience of working in a healthcare related management consultancy role

  • Experience of building a team and leading, managing and supporting team members

  • Ability to multi-task and appreciation of the commitments to working within a consulting practice

  • A logical and methodical approach to analysis and problem solving, with an ability to think laterally and build and challenge business cases

  • Good project management skills and an understanding of governance requirements and risks

  • A hands-on approach to working with clients to resolve problems

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Good knowledge of NHS operations

  • Good understanding of how NHS organisations and systems work, and how services are commissioned and delivered

  • The confidence to work with and challenge Board level and other senior management & clinical clients

  • Commercial acumen

    Our hybrid working policy

    You'll be based in any of our offices with hybrid working. Our hybrid model enables our people to collaborate, connect and innovate in both a virtual and physical capacity. As well as remote working, you'll attend your local office, virtual collaboration spaces and client sites, depending on the requirements of the role.

    Willingness to travel to client site is essential. The NHS clients we serve often involve some on-site working so the ability to travel to NHS organisations nationally is an essential requirement.
