Full Job Description

The Manager, HR & Learning Business Partner (BP) contributes to stakeholders' success (and that of the European Human Resources Function) by recommending and implementing client-specific HR solutions. They partner with HRBPs locally and globally to ensure HR programmes and policies are aligned with business strategies and are successfully implemented, whilst ensuring that all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures. They work closely with the Learning CoE to contribute to the creation and implementation of learning plans and innovative learning experiences and solutions across the European region, ensuring alignment to business strategy and global learning standards and practices. This role is accountable for building and maintaining strong relationships with the business groups they support, under the guidance of the Senior Manager, HRBP. Partnering with GBM HR, Enterprise HR and other key internal partners, they will leverage knowledge, best practices to provide guidance and counsel to leaders, supporting the growth and maintenance of a skilled and motivated workforce capable of and committed to, delivering their business strategy. They will provide trusted advice and guidance on sensitive issues including total rewards, performance management, talent, leadership, development, diversity and inclusion, change management and employee engagement. What You'll Do:

  • Champion a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
  • Champion a high-performance environment and contribute to an inclusive work environment.
  • Collaborate with the HRBP team and key support functions, contributes to their success in achieving business objectives by building and maintaining a capable workforce that will be committed to delivering Bank's strategies and promoting Scotiabank as an employer of choice.
  • Provide effective relationship management for stakeholders within assigned client portfolio, including building and managing relationships and gaining a solid understanding of their business strategies, goals and objectives.
  • Provide support across the European business in respect of Learning and Development activities, and participate in strategic learning plan development in partnership with the Learning CoE. Contribute to the identification of the appropriate learning strategy and solutions to meet business objectives.
  • Provide support on talent and leadership development, employee total rewards, employee engagement, diversity and inclusion and performance management.
  • Contribute to the broader HR community and to the effective functioning of the European HR team.
  • Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Actively pursue effective and efficient operations of your respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank's Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

    Relevant experience in developing and executing learning solutions in a large complex corporate environment.
  • Substantial, relevant HR experience (preferably financial services or banking industry) working within a globally matrixed structure.
  • Skills/Knowledge:
  • Good understanding of the assigned stakeholder groups from a business and organisational perspective including matrix relationships and geographies.
  • Good business acumen to be able to align business objectives and HR strategies with corporate goals to maximise shareholder value.
  • Strong relationship building, influencing and customer service skills to build effective partnerships and ability to work with all levels of management.
  • Results focused with the ability to evaluate options/alternatives and develop solutions/recommendations to sometimes complex and multi-dimensional problems/issues.
  • Confident facilitator - able to present/deliver learning content.
  • Intuitive and forward-thinking with strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong organisational and project management skills and proven ability to successfully deliver / implement / execute initiatives, processes and policies.
  • Proficient computing skills including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
