Full Job Description

As well as our own trained lawyers, we have colleagues who have previously been in international, Magic Circle, US, City, national or boutique law firms, all of whom enjoy working with us.

  • Drafting, reviewing and negotiating transaction documents
  • Managing and co-ordinating transactions from initial instruction through to closing, including multi-jurisdictional deals
  • Maintaining contact with clients post-closing to support their ongoing legal needs
  • Working alongside your colleagues to further grow and develop our corporate business, including involvement in client and targeting teams, and other business development opportunities
  • Providing supervision and training to more junior members of the team, including trainees and paralegals
  • You would support the partners and lead key workstreams on mandates. You would be both positively encouraged and expected to participate fully in business development activities, with a view to supporting the future growth and development of new and existing client relationships

    Having recruited previously at senior level and subsequently promoted those individuals into the partnership, we are looking to continue to grow our team and, in particular, our managing associate strength in general corporate/M&A team.
  • The continued success of the team has led to an increase in the number and value of key mandates, and we are looking to recruit another talented member of the team to help support the future success of the practice.

  • The corporate team Our corporate team is trusted to deliver some of the best deals in the market by some of the biggest UK and international companies and investors. Our team is Tier 1 rated in the Legal Directories for upper mid-market deals and a recognised leader in our chosen sectors (financial services, retail & consumer, real estate, energy & infrastructure, healthcare and gaming & tech) delivering more than 200 deals a year in over 40 different jurisdictions including across the African continent and India. Our corporate team advises clients on all their corporate needs including:
  • Public company takeovers. We have one of the leading team's in the City for public company takeovers and last year we were involved in 30% of all UK takeovers. There are three former secretaries to the Takeover Panel in our team and we provide advice to the Panel on Code related matters giving us unrivalled expertise in this high profile work;
  • Private company M&A (both domestic and cross-border). Our M&A clients include high profile names like ABF, Barclays, BAT, bp, Britvic, Diageo, HSBC, Entain, JD Sports, Lloyds Banking Group and NatWest, many of whom have been clients for more than a decade, and we advise them on all aspects of their acquisition, disposal and joint venture strategies. We are currently adviser to over 50% of the FTSE100 delivering transformational deals for them across all our chosen sectors;
  • Equity capital markets. This includes advice on listings, placings, rights issues and open offers on both the Main Market and AIM, advising corporate issuers and investment banks; and
  • Corporate governance, reporting and group reorganisations. This includes all aspects of corporate governance (whether to the boards of listed companies or in complex joint venture situations), corporate reporting and all aspects of group reorganisations whether to restructure operations, release dividend blocks or prepare groups for sale.
  • Our corporate team sits alongside our market leading private equity team who advise on all aspects of investment work from initial investment deployment to bolt-on acquisitions, through to exit. The two teams sit together, share intelligence and participate in joint training.
