Full Job Description

As a Managing Quantity Surveyor, you will oversee all commercial activities across multiple projects, ensuring financial efficiency, budget management, and compliance with contractual obligations ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards. Leading a team of Quantity Surveyors, you'll drive best practices in cost management, risk assessment, and subcontractor relationships, contributing to the success of our projects and the development of your team. Responsibilities

  • Lead the commercial management of projects, ensuring compliance with contracts, budgets, and specifications
  • Oversee the preparation of accurate cost plans, forecasts, and valuations
  • Manage subcontractor procurement, payments, contracts, and performance to ensure value for money and project quality.
  • Identify and mitigate risks while maximising opportunities to improve project outcomes.
  • Prepare and negotiate variations, claims, and final accounts
  • Preparation of applications for payment to clients
  • Lead and mentor a team of Quantity Surveyors, supporting their development and performance.
  • Maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and project teams, fostering collaboration and trust.
  • Ensure all commercial activities align with Kier's policies, procedures, and sustainability commitments.
  • Monitoring and measuring actual expenditure against budgeted project expenditure in the form of CVR (Cost Value Reconciliation Reports)
  • Managing team workloads

    We are looking for an experienced and driven professional with a strong background in quantity surveying and commercial leadership. Key attributes include:
  • Tier 1 main contracting experience with major new build schemes
  • Relevant experience within high value construction projects at Managing
  • level
  • Ability to assign commercial resources and provide management and mentorship to staff at various levels
  • Strong contractual knowledge of JCT and NEC contract conditions
  • Strong financial acumen and the ability to deliver accurate and insightful reporting
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build strong relationships
  • A proactive and solutions-oriented approach, with a focus on delivering high-quality results
  • Relevant qualifications in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline
