Full Job Description

Due to continued growth, we are looking for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to report to a Commercial Manager across all the company's disciplines. You will be responsible for the individual project leads for day to day activities and workload including support and development of four trainees within the team., The Managing Quantity Surveyor is responsible for works predominantly on our Capital Works - from initial estimates, right through to the final acquisition, procurement of materials and subcontractors. The role is focused on providing value for money while adhering to strict regulations which govern every aspect of the water and drainage industry.,

  • Managing the tender document taking off process including being part of, and sometimes leading, the measurement team.
  • Running projects post contract including carrying out interim valuations and certification, cost reporting and agreeing final accounts.
  • Ability to chair site progress meetings and taking minutes and issue instructions.
  • General contract administration (including issuing all necessary contract certification). Site visits, assessments and projections for future work.
  • Mentoring and development of a team of four trainee quantity surveyors.
  • Support Operational team in daily commercial and contractual aspects
  • Ensuring proper contractual administration of contract/project assigned, including value and cost control, and maintenance of contemporaneous records
  • Accurately value works undertaken and where necessary provide records to substantiate cost to allow prompt issue of Application for payment/invoice in line with contractual timescales
  • Ensure change control process is managed effectively
  • Support development of individuals within the commercial team as the role develops
  • Accepts extra duties as situations arise.

    You will be a good communicator and possess excellent numeracy skills to handle the financial and mathematical demands of the role. Given the demands of the drainage world and its frequent challenges, you will be able to demonstrate innovative approaches to problem solving and an ability to negotiate across the various levels., Qualified (RICS or equivalent); minimum of 5 years relevant post qualification experience.
  • Working knowledge of clean & waste water services or construction
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of products, excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen
  • Strong knowledge of contracts (including NEC)
  • Strong desire to maintain client relationships whilst not compromising contractual entitlement
