General Dynamics Land Systems is on the look-out for a Manufacturing Engineer Apprenticeship to join our Manufacturing Team. The successful and inclusive candidate will earn a favourable salary. This is an ideal role for someone who has a proactive and positive mindset and a keen desire to grow professionally. Joining an established team based at our Merthyr facility, you will work across a range of stakeholders. The scheme will operate over a three year period and will enable the individual to gain an appreciation of manufacturing disciplines within GDUK which are, but not limited to:
- Manufacturing processes
- Work instruction (SOP's) development
- Lean manufacturing principles and practices The apprentice will also get the opportunity to work in multi-disciplined Manufacturing teams and gain knowledge and skills. During College recess the apprentice would be based at their place of work full-time. There may also be some compulsory attendance at the College for class tests, examinations and presentations. #### Applications must be submitted by 05/01/2025 - Assessment days will be held during February 2025 for intake in September 2025 #### If you were already working in this position, this is what you would have been working on this week:
- BoM management and control
- Generating work instructions using CAD and standard templates to support production operations.
- Supporting production activities and maintaining manufacturing processes delivered to production.
- Monitoring operations and identifying efficiency opportunities through lean principles and improvements.
- First responders and line support to build issues related to work instructions and production operations (ANDONS)
- Tooling identification and procurement to support to support production operations.
Be both self-motivated, act with professionalism and able to work within a team. - Excellent IT Skills including Microsoft Package applications
- Have good written and verbal communication skills.
- Be organised and able to prioritise their work.
- Be flexible in their approach to their work.
- Be able to perform tasks on their own initiative.
- Be enthusiastic and driven towards achieving their goals.
- Be interested in pursuing a career within General Dynamics.
- Awareness of IT systems
- Have good problem solving and analytical skills.
- A minimum of A-levels or equivalent./ A minimum of 5 G.C.S.E grades A-C including Math's, English and Science
