Full Job Description

As a Manufacturing Engineer at 3M UK, Skelmersdale, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

  • Providing full support to production processes and assist with the development, testing and introduction of new products.
  • Developing and implement significant improvements in department wide processes, procedures and systems.
  • Improving the overall reliability and performance of plant, personnel and production equipment and processes.
  • Carrying out feasibility studies for new technical innovations, testing installations and systems, analysing data.
  • Helping with installation and commissioning of new equipment and processes.
  • Maintaining and develop the delivery of finished products in line with cost, quality and production schedule requirements.
  • Implementing standard operating procedures across all areas of responsibility.
  • Health and Safety awareness will be amongst your main priorities, and Health and Safety guidelines should be actively adhered to and promoted.
  • Communicating, liaising and negotiating internally and externally using appropriate methods to facilitate the development of profitable business and sustainable relationships.
  • Developing strong relationships with plant management functions. In addition you will foster and develop excellent relationships with key business stakeholders.

    Bachelor's/Master's/Apprenticeship degree or higher from an accredited institution in an Engineering discipline
  • Significant hands-on experience in a manual and automated assembly manufacturing environment
  • Experience of lean manufacturing techniques and six sigma
  • experience of manual and automated assembly processes, and has a proven track record of process capability and OEE improvement
  • Experience in project management
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Versatile and a self-starter able to work without supervision
  • Additional knowledge / nice-to-have skills / preferred qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
  • Familiarity with line balancing and ideally demonstrate practical knowledge and application of Lean/Six Sigma mythologies
  • Six Sigma / Lean experience, ideally Green Belt or higher
  • Project management
