Full Job Description
The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for developing and improving processes across all plant manufacturing operations. The Manufacturing Engineer will be involved in planning, scheduling, and implementing manufacturing processes in assembly areas, and will engage with other teams as per project requirements, i.e. CI, maintenance, and production engineering.
The ideal candidate will have experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably covering manufacturing processes in assembly operations, including fixture development and poke yoke. The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate their ability to design new systems, equipment and processes to support new product introduction and develop existing products across all operational areas and work cross-functionally within the organisation to ensure that all product and system requirements are taken into account from start of the process to completion. The ideal candidate will have experience developing effective automated and non-automated systems and testing new and existing manufacturing processes. A solid understanding and knowledge of supporting and updating PFMEA as changes occur, and Engineering and Manufacturing BOMs (EBOM/MBOM) aligned with operations team assembly and manufacturing methods are essential.
The ideal candidate will be proficient in evaluating manufacturing processes based on quality criteria focusing on efficiency and speed; championing change management processes such as owning the ECR/ECN process for projects; and embracing SQDC (Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost) in all projects.
Experience and knowledge of supporting Design for Manufacture (DfM) and Design for Assembly (DfA) development meetings to ensure the smooth transition into full production is essential for this role; as well as supporting during the review and tender stages for new equipment, working with internal stakeholders to agree technical specification. The ideal candidate will have experience liaising as appropriate with suppliers and customers to support projects., Candidates must hold a HND or equivalent in Manufacturing Engineering, and ideally be working towards a Bachelor's degree or equivalent. Experience and knowledge of CAD (2D and 3D) is essential, ideally AutoCAD and Siemens NX. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills to delivery technical information with various stakeholders; together with strong verbal and written skills, problem solving skills, the ability to work effectively within, and across, project teams and be highly organised with a high level of attention to detail. The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate effective time management, a high quality of work and strategic thinking to support continuous improvement for future developments.
