Full Job Description

The Manufacturing Manager leads the production team and working through a team of Cell Leaders is responsible for all aspects of production ensuring that goods are produced efficiently, in full, on time, within budget and to standard. Team

  • Effectively plan and allocate manufacturing resource within a complex manufacturing environment to meet current and predicted production requirements
  • Ensure that the quality of products continuously meets customer requirements.
  • Develop a team of Cell Leaders, using effective management skills such as personal and team development, performance management, functional training, career development discussions and engagement techniques in driving forward a high performance culture.
  • Lead training and development sessions when required.
  • Manufacturing Output
  • Manage the team of Cell Leaders so that they can run their area effectively and efficiently to deliver on time to cost and quality.
  • Able to work effectively with the Engineering, Supply Chain and Quality teams where problem escalation is necessary.
  • Drive evidence-driven problem solving within the team to ensure the effective, proactive and robust resolution of issues.
  • Develop, maintain and monitor appropriate Key Performance Indicators for the team and drive year-on-year improvements to meet targets.
  • Monitor and maintain relevant KPIs
  • Manage manufacturing constraints to ensure on time delivery to cost and quality.
  • Manage resource and cell layout to meet production and business needs
  • House Keeping & Quality
  • Ensure compliance to the businesses and quality management system ISO9001
  • Ensure audit actions are closed in a timely manner
  • Continuous Improvement
  • Drive a continuous improvement culture through the Production teams, whilst increasing productivity through use of best practice manufacturing principles.
  • Initiate and lead continuous improvement projects to improve productivity, reduce costs and improve output.
  • Drive and provide support to productivity and workplace organisation (5S/LEAN) improvements
  • Develop best practice functional documents and processes
  • New Product Introduction (NPI)
  • Support the NPI process and working through the Cell Leaders manage any impact on production
  • Finance
  • Work with Finance to produce a budget for their areas of responsibility.
  • Management of budget for their area of responsibility
  • Working with Engineering, preparation and management for the CAPEX budget in their area of responsibility
  • Strategy
  • Contribute to operational strategy for the success of the RF Power division, in partnership with other RF Power teams and managers.
  • Occupational Health, Safety and Environmental (OHSE) The role holder is also responsible OHSE and must:-
  • Champion our Health and Safety standards, procedures and company rules;
  • Intervene, correct (where able to) and report all unsafe or non-compliant situations by taking action (e.g. hazard spots) and reporting near misses ;
  • Demonstrate a duty of care towards those you come in contact with and work with and proactively escalate potential Health and Safety issues as and where appropriate;
  • Support and promote the e2v Safety, Health and Environment Leadership Team (SHELT) programme to strengthen our Occupational Health, Safety and Environmental (OHSE) culture for proactive and continuous improvement of our OHSE programs which provide for a productive and safe working environment.
