Full Job Description

The Marine Project Engineer will play a supportive role in the execution of marine operations for the project. The role will encompass two phases. For Phase 1 the role will be supporting the completion of our dredging operations in Argentia, NL. This role will provide technical and project management support to all activities. The position may require the individual to complete night shifts as work progresses. The position will be based in Argentia during Phase 1. Following completion of the dredging scope at the end of 2024, early 2025, the position will transition to St. John's where the individual will provide support as needed in preparation for installation activities in 2025. This shall include supporting the various scopes including CGS Tow-out and Installation, Topsides Transport and Installation, Marine Rock Installation, and our Accommodations Support Vessel. This position will be responsible for supporting the Marine Operations - Operational Readiness process for all 2025 offshore operations as well as support the Regulatory group in the preparation of all Authorization and permitting applications required to execute the 2025 campaign. The position will require travel to the contractor's offices and work sites and may require attendance offshore onboard the Contractor vessels during the dredging campaign or during the 2025 campaign. The position may also be asked to support other marine operations by attendance at various onshore and offshore locations as required. The person will work collaboratively with a team of highly qualified individuals to ensure a satisfactory level of preparedness is achieved prior to the commencement of transportation and installation activities. Responsibilities:

  • Sound understanding of the role of health, safety, environment and quality management systems in the offshore oil and gas industry.
  • Phase 1 - support the Dredging Project with the execution of dredging operations in Argentia.
  • Support the management of interfaces between Dredging Contractor and the CGS Construction Contractor - primarily supporting technical queries between the Contractors during onshore construction and reclamation works.
  • Phase 2 - support the preparations for the 2025 installation of the CGS and Topsides. Position will be based in the office in St. John's.
  • Provides input and support to Regulatory team in obtaining necessary permits.
  • May be required to support or lead other marine and subsea scopes, 3rd parties, consultants, etc.
  • Management of all key technical items associated with the work scopes as assigned by the Marine Manager.
  • May be asked to act as a Client Representative onboard vessels as deemed necessary.
  • Deliverables:
  • Responsible for supporting the drafting, revising and contributing to Owner's documentation to support the following:
  • + Technical query responses + Internal reporting + Regulatory reporting + Meeting minutes
  • Review and comment on behalf of the Client on contractor's technical reports, and installation procedures/manuals
  • Review and comment on behalf of the Client on contractor's documentation for the design, fabrication, installation, equipment, etc.
  • Support the close-out of HIRA actions prior to the commencement for all marine scopes.

    Relevant Engineering Degree such as Civil, GeoTechnical, or Ocean (however other disciplines would be considered).
  • Qualifications to register as a P.Eng. with PEGNL.
  • 5 - 10+ years' experience as a project engineer in the offshore oil and gas industry.
  • Experience in the dredging operations, including land reclamation, would be considered an asset.
  • Experience with the regulatory environment and work authorization processes for land based construction and dredging operations within Canada, or civil constructions works in Newfoundland and Labrador, would be considered an asset.
  • Understanding of HSEQ, risk management, and interface management processes.
  • Understanding of project management and contract management processes.
  • Ability to travel internationally as required.
  • Ability to complete the Basic Survival Training (BST) program is required.
