The Marketing & Audience Development Manager will devise, manage and deliver an effective and engaging marketing strategy for Rochdale Town Hall. A dynamic strategy that realises and promotes Rochdale Town Hall as a unique, signature venue and a vibrant, engaging visitor attraction for key local, regional and national audiences. The post leads on all marketing campaigns for live and digital projects that relate to all the main public functions of Rochdale Town Hall: Commercial (including the new on-site restaurant The Martlet Kitchen), Engagement & Learning, Events & Functions, and The Conservation Studio. The Marketing & Audience Development Manager is a key member of Rochdale Town Hall's Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and has responsibility for nurturing existing, and developing new, marketing relationships with a range of audiences across the UK. Rochdale Town Hall will be an anchor attraction of significant importance to our developing cultural district and delivery of our visitor economy strategy. As such, the Marketing & Audience Development Manager will work closely with the Visitor Economy Officer and networks of partner heritage, culture and visitor attractions, town centre businesses and borough events. The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable and passionate, with a proven track record in marketing cultural venues, experience of working across multi-functional teams, and an in-depth understanding of how to reach multiple target audiences through strategic marketing campaigns. To apply please upload your CV together with a supporting statement that provides evidence of how you meet the essential requirements of the person specification.
In March 2024, Rochdale Town Hall opened its doors to the public, after being closed for 4 years due to major restoration works. Over 60,000 people have visited this beautiful building in its first 6 months of opening. Rochdale Town Hall is now attracting visitors from all over Greater Manchester, the north west, the UK and the world. We are so pleased at how much people are enjoying visiting this amazing building! This role offers an exciting opportunity to be at the helm of what will become one of the largest visitor attractions in Greater Manchester. Rochdale Town Hall is a building of the highest level of national importance. Its Grade 1 listing places it in the top 2.5% of buildings nationally. It was described by the authoritative architectural historian Pevsner "as one of the dozen most ambitious High Victorian town halls of Englandof rare picturesque beauty, boasting splendid interior schemes". Housing nationally significant historical rooms, a new restaurant, new learning and community spaces and a fully pedestrianised Town Hall Square, Rochdale Town Hall has been truly transformed. This is a big moment for Rochdale. Heritage has been central to our regeneration efforts, drawing inspiration from our roots as the home of the cooperative movement. The restoration of this historic building is a significant project for the borough of Rochdale and has received substantial investment from the National Lottery Heritage Fund.
