Full Job Description

The Marketing and Communications Manager is responsible for driving the club's growth and enhancing its brand reputation through strategic marketing initiatives and effective communication strategies. This role plays a pivotal part in generating sufficient leads, attracting new members, retaining existing ones, and nurturing community engagement among current and prospective members. Liaising with Heads of Departments and team members, the Marketing and Communications Manager role is central to promoting Colets' facilities and services in a timely, efficient and effective manner. Ultimately, the role is to promote Colets as the premier destination for health and fitness in Thames Ditton, and to inspire individuals to embark on their wellness journey with us. As part of the senior leadership team this role is pivotal in optimising communications and building Brand recognition focusing on the key pillars of Childcare, Junior activities, Events, Clubs within Clubs and Active aging Role responsibilities People

  • Support the Digital Engagement Lead, Sales, and IT on the communication and marketing aspects of 'The Colets Way', with automated messaging to support the lead, prospect, member, guest, and ex-member journeys.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to gather content such as member testimonials, success stories, and upcoming events.
  • Serve as a brand guardian, ensuring consistency and integrity of the Colets brand across all Comms channels & materials.
  • Represent marketing and communications at Head of Department meetings, and P&L meetings, reporting on marketing performance KPIs and metrics.
  • Manage and collaborate with external agencies, consultants, and vendors as required.
  • Cultivate positive relationships with local and regional media outlets, national industry press, influencers and community partners to generate press coverage and enhance brand reputation.
  • Coordinate community outreach initiatives, sponsorships, and partnerships to increase Colets' visibility and involvement in the local area.
  • Contribute to a positive and informed culture, supporting HR with internal communications.
  • Members
  • Create comprehensive promotional marketing plans to drive membership growth and increase brand awareness.
  • Develop and execute tailored marketing campaigns to attract new members and retain existing ones, both externally and in-venue.
  • Plan and execute targeted digital marketing campaigns across various channels, including email marketing, digital advertising, and content marketing. Monitor metrics and optimise campaigns for engagement and conversion.
  • Generate compelling, engaging content for various marketing channels, including website, social media platforms, newsletters, and promotional materials.
  • Manage and maintain Colets' presence on social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn.
  • Coordinate and execute promotional events, open days, and special promotions to attract new members and engage existing ones.
  • Support the Bar & Events Manager and other Heads of Departments to coordinate event logistics, including vendor management and promotional materials.
  • Operations
  • Utilise a mix of traditional and digital marketing channels, including social media, email marketing, digital advertising (PPC and SEM), content marketing and SEO, printing, and events.
  • Ensure the efficient management of all marketing and communications related tasks and projects.
  • Respond to and manage all marketing support tickets in a reasonable time.
  • Assist in maintaining the Colets website in conjunction with the Digital Engagement Lead.
  • Monitor relevant digital analytics and track performance metrics to optimise content and campaigns.
  • Ensure Colets' digital presence is updated and managed, such as Google Business profile, listings, and review websites.
  • Provide marketing leadership and support, with research, benchmarking, and best practice from within & outside the sector
  • Any other tasks or projects as reasonably requested by the CEO & General Manager.
  • Finance
  • Lead on the Marketing and Communications budget.
  • Assist in setting pricing strategies, forecasting, and annual budgets for the department in conjunction with Membership & Retention Manager & Finance.

  • A collaborator who thrives in fast-paced environments., Bachelor's degree in marketing, Communications, Digital Media, or related field. Alternatively, proven experience in digital marketing, website management, SEO or related role.
  • Experience of line management responsibilities, and nurturing/developing small teams.
  • Strong understanding of digital marketing strategies, techniques, and best practices.
  • Proficiency in social media management platforms, website content management systems, and email marketing software.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create compelling digital content.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data, analyse performance metrics, and optimise digital initiatives.
  • Creative thinker with the ability to develop innovative digital engagement strategies.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to multitask and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in managing third-party software and integrations.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
