Full Job Description

The marketing team are responsible for generating modern, fresh and culturally relevant omni channel marketing ideas. Bringing campaigns to life from conception to reality. Whether it be large scale global campaigns, the biggest celebrity collaborations or new store activations, the departments main priority is to create ideas through messaging, imagery and motion. We live and breathe our brand and commercial objectives by enticing, exciting and engaging our target consumer. We work on creative concepts for iconic calendar events such as Christmas, Summer, Back to School and beyond.

We're looking for creative minded, delivery and performance focused individuals to join our inhouse team. You'll be working with a team of talented brand, campaign and studio-based marketing experts. Working for JD across our brand portfolio including Nike, adidas, Puma, The North Face and Under Armour to name a few. This is an extremely exciting time to join our expanding inhouse marketing team.

The successful candidate must be:

  • Currently studying a relevant marketing degree

  • Available for a face-to-face interview

  • Available to start in September 2023

  • Able to commit to a full time 12-month fixed term contract

  • Able to commute to Pilsworth, Bury HQ


  • The role will be working in one of three teams:

    Third Party Brands:

    The 3rd Party Brand team are responsible for delivering impactful and engaging 360 campaigns via our Partner Brands such as Nike, adidas, The North Face and Puma. Our role, to maximise consumer connection, relevance, and resonance for JD. The team are responsible for managing brand and commercial marketing across the full JD eco system aligning to the business strategic vision. We create rich story telling from a product perspective utilising the third partner brands positioning and enhancing the perception of JD. The objective is to optimise JD relevance and performance to secure partner and destination of choice status.

    Campaign:

    The Main Campaign team use insight and input from key stakeholders across the business to define and refine the creative briefs for JD's global marketing campaigns. Taking big creative ideas and working with business leads to craft impactful roll out plans. Whilst aligning with the business on key objectives and KPIs, to allow performance measurement and reflection.

    Our dynamic campaign team manage the shoots and oversee all creative output with established production partners. Working closely with our internal studios, overseeing the delivery of all video content and POS for stores globally, as well as supporting outdoor media. Running multiple campaigns at various points of completion. Timing and communication are key to the success of the campaign.

    Retail:

    Responsible for driving the performance of UK and Republic of Ireland JD stores. Defining the strategy and coordinating the marketing plans to ensure awareness and success of new store openings and store activations, as well as driving any tactical/seasonal activity and supporting local marketing opportunities. Working closely with various functions across the JD business including Retail, Operations, Merchandising, Property, VM, Social, Digital and Sports Marketing, the Retail Marketing team play a pivotal role in identifying opportunities to grow the UK & ROI business and continually strive to build and optimise campaign on campaign through analysis of results.

    As a marketing intern you will be responsible for
  • Ensure smooth delivery (planning & coordination) of all assigned tasks (relevant, on time, on budget). Project scope may include but is not limited to organising photoshoots, events, integrated campaigns, calendar planning, sample coordination & handling, management of product for marketing projects.

  • Working x-functionally with internal stakeholders and be responsible to develop excellent working relationships with all stakeholders, partners & market/regional teams.

  • Understand the JD consumer in our key markets, know what is relevant to them in product and culture.

  • Bring & share ideas with the team to enrich projects (including research, mood boards etc)

  • Weekly reporting on retail KPIs and campaign performance.

  • Coordinate and produce wrap reports for each project.

  • Know and analyse the competition, sharing insight with wider teams.

  • Utilise learnings, insights and knowledge gained on each project to inform and enhance each subsequent project.

  • During your time in the team, you will have the opportunity to build your skills & learn more about our industry & the marketing function as well as the brands and partners we work with.

  • Support the marketing team and heads of function on across any tasks required.

    Someone who is currently studying a degree relevant to Marketing

  • Someone with a passion for offline marketing

  • Strong team player able to work in a fast-paced environment

  • Excellent communicator

  • Mac/PC literate; good working knowledge of excel, word, keynote/ppt

  • Good time management skills, able to prioritise, multitask and work to deadlines with excellent attention to detail

  • Solutions-orientated with proven ability to use initiative to attain swift successful outcomes

  • Creative flair

  • Have a positive, can-do outlook

  • Ability to be mobile to travel for shoots/production/work meeting etc

  • Interest in sneaker culture, sports, music, fashion & youth culture
