Full Job Description

Markets Technology is moving to a strategic use of public cloud for compute capability underpinning its risk management. This role is to co-ordinate and drive the change across the asset class aligned teams, core infrastructure teams and with cloud providers., Focus on TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) of our Infra footprint and efficient delivery of same is critical to make strides in operational efficiency. Public Cloud is a key part of our compute strategy, underpinning risk management. This role is to co-ordinate the change across the asset class aligned teams, core infrastructure teams and with cloud providers and lead other infra efficiency initiatives across Markets Technology.

  • Operational Coordination: Co-ordinate the day-to-day operations of the infrastructure estate for Markets Technology, with focus on infra delivery process and cost.

  • Infra Request / Delivery Process: Oversee the provision and integration of infrastructure components including on-prem compute, networks, storage, and public cloud.

  • IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service) - Partner with Citi Tech Infra group to develop IAAS.

  • High Performance Compute (HPC) Estate - Lead the management and optimisation of the HPC estate, ensuring it meets the performance demands of market technology applications - specifically in the financial risk space

  • Oversee the integration and management of cloud environments, ensuring seamless operation alongside on-premise infrastructure, and driving the adoption of cloud-native solutions where beneficial.

  • Automation of Builds drive infrastructure build & deployment efficiency, both on-premise and in the cloud, to increase efficiency, reduce human error, and ensure consistent configurations across environments.

  • Improvement of Procurement & Delivery Collaborate with procurement and vendor management teams to streamline the infrastructure procurement process, reducing lead times and improving the delivery of infrastructure resources.


  • Key Responsibilities may include (but not limited to:):
  • Be a hands-on SME and technical lead with experience of managing grid compute and/or risk systems at scale.

  • Be able to drive/lead/co-ordinate the migration of the existing solutions to cloud.

  • Form close partnerships with the engineering and application teams.

  • Establish strong relationships with the global business stakeholders, the technology and core infrastructure engineering and support teams.

  • Ensure transparency of project deliveries to all stakeholders.

  • Partner/collaborate with Production Support team to improve stability and scalability of systems and provide tools that help development and support teams to manage the systems and understand costs.

  • Be a member of the broader technical leadership team within Citigroup bringing domain expertise and the ability to influence in wider technology and architecture decisions.

    An in-depth understanding of cost-efficient infrastructure.

  • Strong experience in Grid/Public Cloud technology including the management of a sizeable markets grid.

  • Good understanding and practical experience in Infra Service Delivery

  • Good understanding and practical experience in the application of cloud technology either as a user or supplier.

  • Global Financial Markets exposure.

  • Strong and demonstrated leadership experience.

  • Good communication skills. Ability to manage business stakeholders and ensure project transparency.

  • Track record of transitioning and transformation of one or more organisations technology platform.

  • Sound knowledge of infrastructure.

  • Sound knowledge of IT costs and financing.
